# Overview Source: [https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-70014-41/topic/overview.html](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-70014-41/topic/overview.html) Qualcomm® Linux® uses the Ubuntu operating system (OS) to sync, build, and flash the Qualcomm Linux software. If you do not have an Ubuntu machine, you can set up a virtual machine (VM) running the Ubuntu OS on a Windows® or a Mac® host machine. To set up a virtual machine, you need the following: - A Windows 11 or a Mac host machine, which meets the minimum system requirements. - A virtualization software to create and run an Ubuntu VM. - An Ubuntu ISO file to install on the VM. **This information is also available in [Simplified Chinese](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/topics/80-70014-41Y)**.
