# Debug high sleep current To enhance the power efficiency of the device, it’s crucial to optimize the power consumption of both the SoC and the CPU. * * * To debug high sleep current, do the following: **Figure : Debug flowchart** **Prerequisites** 1. To configure APSS suspend run the following command: echo mem >/sys/power/autosleep Copy to clipboard 2. Turn off the display, if the display hardware isn’t connected. 3. Disconnect the USB. **Procedure** To optimize high power consumption, do the following steps: 1. AOSD sleep is the lowest power state. Verify the AOSD sleep count using the commands provided in [Verify system-on-chip sleep state](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-70030-30/topic/qcs6490-soc-power-saving-state.html#section-edr-q1w-vcc). 2. If the AOSD count value is zero or static, verify the success count of CPU suspend using the instructions provided in [Verify suspend statistics](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-70030-30/topic/suspend-power-management-state.html#section-wls-nfw-vcc). 3. If the CPU suspend count value is zero or static, check if any active wake lock is preventing the CPU from sleep.
