# Build and run the sample application

## Build the sample application

1. In Android Studio, go to **File** &gt; **New** &gt; **Import Project**.
2. In the **Import Project** dialog, browse to the location of the FastCV demo project and click **OK**.

    Android Studio opens and indexes the contents of the project in a new IDE window.
3. Change the view to **Project** and expand **app** &gt; **src** &gt; **main** &gt; **jni**.
4. Right click **jni** and select **New** &gt; **Directory**.
5. Name the new directory: `lib`.
6. Copy the `libfastcv.a` file from the Qualcomm FastCV SDK to the `/jni/lib/` directory of the Android Studio project.
7. Right click **jni** and select **New** &gt; **Directory**.
8. Name the new directory: `inc`.
9. In the `/inc/` directory, create a directory named `fastcv`.
10. Copy the `fastcv.h` file from the `/inc/` directory of the FastCV SDK to the newly created `/fastcv` directory.

    The directory structure should look like the following image.

Run the project

    The project compiles, and installs and starts the APK on the device.
15. To compile 64-bit libraries, change the default setting to compile 32-bit libraries.
Comment out the following line in the `Application.mk` file to generate code for 32-bit Arm v7:

> `APP_ABI := armeabi-v7a`

    Uncomment the following line to generate code for 64-bit Arm v8 (AArch64):

> 
> 
> `APP_ABI := arm64-v8a`.

    Code should look like the following to compile for 64-bit libraries.

         APP_ABI := arm64-v8a
         APP_ALLOW_MISSING_DEPS := true  #allow missing dependencies
        Copy to clipboard

## Run the sample application

To install the sample application on a device, run the following command from the output directory;
replace `<project name>.apk` with the project name.

> `adb install <project name>.apk`

The expected result is the sample application installs and runs on the device.
