The audio DSP (aDSP) is the DSP component responsible for capture and playback.

The audio subsystem has in-built smarts, that is, the Qualcomm® Voice Suite, which has the far field voice (FFV), echo canceller noise suppression (ECNS), and Qualcomm® Voice Activation.

Other features supported for audio include the compressed offload playback (decode and play at the same time in aDSP). This saves power as the compressed audio data is sent over to the aDSP for simultaneous decode and playback. This keeps the application processor off as much as possible, for example, screen off with music playback.
