Universal flash storage (UFS) is an open standard set by Joint Electron Device
Engineering Council (JEDEC). It is a high-performance storage interface designed to minimize the
    power consumption.

Its high-speed serial interface and optimized protocol enable significant improvements in
throughput and system performance. For more information, see [https://www.jedec.org/standards-documents/focus/flash/universal-flash-storage-ufs](https://www.jedec.org/standards-documents/focus/flash/universal-flash-storage-ufs).

Qualcomm Robotics RB5 provides slots for embedded UFS (eUFS) card within the device and a removable UFS memory card.
- **[UFS provisioning](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/91_UFS_provisioning.html)**

UFS provisioning is a one-time event that creates and defines logical unit numbers (LUN) on a new card.
- **[UFS device driver and kernel configuration](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/92_UFS_software.html)**

The UFS device driver support is provided for both boot and storage. UFS uses both MIPI M-PHY and UniPro standards to configure the device driver for providing high-speed connectivity and power efficiency.
- **[UFS power management](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/ufs_power_management.html)**

To monitor the power consumption, UFS has three power modes in accordance to the existing JEDEC standards – Active, Idle, and Sleep.
