This section includes topics normally completed during setup. They’re included here for reference purposes and for additional information as needed.

## Supported operating systems

If not already configured, set up the Linux host with one of the supported operating systems using your standard installation procedures.

The following table lists the supported operating systems (Linux Kernel 5.4 and later are supported).

## Install Cloud AI accelerator cards

If not already installed, use the following procedure to install as many as two Cloud AI accelerator cards.

1. Use electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection by wearing an antistatic wrist strap attached to the chassis ground when handling the card.
2. Turn off power to the PCIe slot.
3. Ensure proper mechanical support is provided to the card after it’s inserted to avoid damage due to shock or vibration.

## Download and install the Cloud AI SDKs

If not already installed, download and install the Cloud AI SDKs on the host machine. The Cloud AI SDK consists of two SDKs, a Platform SDK and an Apps SDK.

### Download the Cloud AI SDKs

Download the Cloud AI SDKs from [Qualcomm Package Manager (QPM)](https://qpm.qualcomm.com/).

1. Login to QPM. If it’s your first time using QPM, follow the on-screen instructions to register for a Qualcomm ID.
2. Select **Tools**.
3. In the **Filter By** pane, select **Linux**.
4. In the search box, type **Cloud AI**.
5. Select **Qualcomm Cloud AI Products** to reveal the SDKs available.

    1. For Platform SDK, select **Qualcomm Cloud AI Platform SDK**.
    2. For Apps SDK, select **Qualcomm Cloud AI Apps SDK**.
6. Two drop down lists are present, one for the OS and one for the version of the SDK. Select **Linux (Debian)** and **SDK Version** from the drop down lists.
7. To download the SDKs, click **Download**.

### Install the Cloud AI SDKs

Python 3.10 must be installed before running the SDK installers. In addition, the Apps SDK qaic-pytools requires Python 3.8.

The `install.sh` scripts for Cloud AI Apps SDK and Cloud AI Platform SDK automatically install required OS packages. Skip this option using the `--skip_depends` argument.

#### Install the Platform SDK

The downloaded Platform SDK file is named `aic_platform.Core.<majorversion.minorversion.patchversion.buildversion>.Linux-AnyCPU.zip`. For example: `aic_platform.Core.1.19.10.0.Linux-AnyCPU.zip`.

To install the Platform SDK, do the following:

1. Log in to the host machine as a root user or use `sudo` to have the elevated permissions to complete installation.
2. Copy the downloaded Platform SDK to the host machine.
3. Log in to the host computer (ssh or local terminal).
4. Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file to a working directory.
5. Go to the working directory.
6. The Platform SDK contains collaterals for x86-rpm, x86-deb, aarch64-rpm and aarch64-deb. Confirm the architecture and Linux package format that works for your setup. The following image is the tree structure of the Platform SDK (`qaic-platform-sdk-<major.minor.patch.build`&gt;).

7. Run the `install.sh` script as root or with sudo to install with elevated permissions. Installation can take up to 30 minutes depending on the number of Cloud AI cards in the server/VM. The Cloud AI cards are reset several times during the installation process.

#### Install the Apps SDK

The downloaded Apps SDK file is named `aic_apps.Core.<majorversion.minorversion.patchversion.buildversion>.Linux-AnyCPU.zip`. For example: `aic_apps.Core.1.19.10.0.Linux-AnyCPU.zip`.

To install the Apps SDK, do the following:

1. Copy the SDK over to the Linux host computer.
2. Extract the contents of the downloaded file.
3. The Apps SDK contains collaterals for AArch64 and x86-64. Confirm the architecture and Linux package format that works for your setup. The following image is the tree structure of the Apps SDK (`qaic-apps-<major.minor.patch.build version`&gt;).

4. Run the `install.sh` script as root user or with sudo to install with elevated permissions..

sudo ./install.sh --enable-qaic-pytools
        Copy to clipboard

    After successful installation of the Apps SDK, the contents are at `/opt/qti-aic` under the `dev` and `exec` directories `dev exec integrations scripts`.
5. Check the Apps SDK version with the following command:

cat /opt/qti-aic/versions/apps.xml
        Copy to clipboard
6. Apply `chmod` commands:

sudo chmod a+x /opt/qti-aic/dev/hexagon_tools/bin/*
        sudo chmod a+x /opt/qti-aic/exec/*
        Copy to clipboard
