# Cloud AI SDK overview

The Cloud AI SDK consists of the Application (Apps) SDK and the Platform SDK. The SDKs provide workflows to optimize the models for best performance, provide runtime for execution, and supports integration with ONNX Runtime and Triton Inference Server for deployment.

The Cloud AI SDKs support the following:

- High-performance generative AI, natural language processing, and computer vision models.
- Optimizing performance of the models per application requirements (throughput, accuracy and latency) through various quantization techniques.
- Development of inference applications for multiple OS and Docker containers.
- Deployment of inference applications at scale with [Triton inference server](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-99100-3/topic/index_Triton-Inference-Server-Support.html#reference-to-triton-inference-server), [vLLM](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-99100-3/topic/index_vLLM.html#reference-to-vllm) and [Text Generation Inference](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-99100-3/topic/index_tgi.html#reference-to-text-generation-inference).

Use the Application (Apps) SDK to convert models and prepare runtime binaries for inference on [Cloud AI platforms](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-99100-3/topic/index_Getting-Started.html#cloud-ai-platforms) with [Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 accelerators](https://www.qualcomm.com/artificial-intelligence/data-center/cloud-ai-100-ultra). The Apps SDK contains model development tools, a sophisticated parallelizing graph compiler, performance and integration tools, and code samples. The Apps SDK incudes the [Qualcomm® AI Engine Direct](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/topics/80-63442-50/introduction.html), which is a common SDK for Qualcomm AI products.

The Platform SDK provides driver support for Cloud AI accelerators, APIs and tools for executing and debugging model binaries, and tools for card health, monitoring, and telemetry. The Platform SDK consists of a kernel driver, userspace runtime with APIs and language bindings, and card firmware.

## Compilation and execution modes

The Apps and Platform SDKs enable just-in-time (JIT) or ahead-of-time (AOT)
compilation and execution on x86-64 and AArch64 platforms.

In JIT mode, compilation and execution are tightly coupled and require
Apps and Platform SDKs to be installed on the same system or virtual machine(VM).

In AOT mode, compilation and execution are decoupled. Networks can be
compiled ahead-of-time and the compiled networks can be deployed on
x86-64 or AArch64 with the Platform SDK.

Both JIT and AOT are supported when the Apps and Platform SDK are
installed on the same server or virtual machine(VM).

## Cloud AI platforms

You can access platforms with Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 accelerators with a Qualcomm Dragonwing AI On-Prem Appliance or using Cloud service providers. This document describes using the On-Prem Appliance.
