## Configurable GPIO ports and MPM support

There are 180 GPIO ports – 146 of them are normal GPIOs, and configuration options are
        shown here and 34 of them are called extended GPIOs (eGPIO).

Software assigns functions to the GPIOs, and their configurations are set accordingly.

If MPM is enabled by software to reduce power consumption, only selected GPIO pins can be used to wake up the QRB5165 device. See the *QRB5165 Data Sheet* (80-PV086-1) for wake-up pin information.

If MPM is used, treat external pulls carefully. During MPM mode, all digital pads are held by a keeper circuit. If the MPM GPIO is driven by an external chip during MPM mode, external opposite-direction pull causes DC current flows (highly undesirable during sleep mode). If the MPM GPIO is connected to an open-drain circuit, an external pull is required for keeping the GPIO in the intended state.

The PCB layout must avoid crosstalk on the wake-up GPIOs; coupling can cause an unintentional trigger.

## GPIO initialization

To avoid GPIO problems, a specific supply sequence is required when powering up the QRB5165 device.

- The core supply (VDD\_CX) must turn on and reach 90% of its programmed value before any of the pad supplies (VDD\_PX) are enabled. Without these sequence and timing relationships the GPIO pads might come up in undefined states.
- The PM8250 and PM8150L/PM8150A ensure the proper supply sequence and timing.
- Recommend peripheral devices connected to GPIOs not driving the signals until RESIN\_N de-asserted.

## eGPIO ports

There are 34 extended GPIO (eGPIO) ports:

- eGPIO allows SSC or LPASS I/Os to be reused as regular GPIOs, if intended.
- 20 of them are configured as SSC GPIOs by default.
- 14 of them are configured as LPASS GPIOs by default.

Two new bits are added to each GPIO\_CFG register for eGPIO function.

- EGPIO\_PRESENT is the read-only bit which shows if an eGPIO feature is available on a
          particular GPIO. This bit will be 1 only for GPIO 146 to GPIO 179 and will be 0 for GPIO 0
          to GPIO 145 in QRB5165.
- EGPIO\_ENABLE is the read/write bit and only effective if EGPIO\_PRESENT is 1. Once it is
          set, the eGPIO is controlled from the chip TLMM block instead of SSC or WCSS.
