# Configure a device
1. Use the **Devices** tab to view the list of tracking devices. On the **Tracking Devices** page, select a tracking device.
2. The device **Dashboard** tab shows the device status and alerts. You can view all
status charts or click **Export Data** to download data to a CSV file.
3. Click the **Device Configuration** tab to see pre-configured alerts and configurations
for the device.

Modify the sensor configuration settings for the device as need. For
example:
- Modify the name of the tracking device, if needed.
- Apply a configuration template to the tracking device. Configuration templates allow
you to apply consistent settings for assets that are frequently transported.
Configuration templates for different asset types are created from the **Manage**
tab.

- Click the applicable edit icon to modify individual sensor settings.

The following table lists the conditions that trigger an alert based
on sensor type. You can set the specific values that will trigger the alerts.
| Sensor | Alert if... |
| --- | --- |
| Temperature | Temp gets too high or low |
| Pressure | Pressure gets too high or low |
| Humidity | Humidity gets too high or low |
| Light Sensing | Sensor suddenly detects a change in light exposure unexpectedly; this may
indicate the package has been stolen or tampered with |
| Fall Detection | Package has fallen from a specific height |
| Shock Detection | Fragile goods have been jolted either due to fall or any other
reason |
| Tilt Detection | Package tilts beyond a certain amount |
Save the changes. Settings will take effect when the device next connects to
the cloud. The changes will not happen immediately, and may take an extended amount of
time if the reporting interval is long, e.g., 30 or 60 minutes.

**Note**: If the device senses a threshold breach (e.g., if the
temperature on a cold chain shipment goes above 0°C), it will report it as soon as it
can.
**Bulk configuration**
1. Select devices from the tenant and click **Update Config**.

2. Update the device configuration as needed and click **Send Config Change** to apply
configuration on the selected devices.

**Create an asset type**
1. Click on the Manage tab and select an asset type.

2. Update asset configuration and click **Create**.

Use Asset types during shipment creation.
**Reporting and sampling frequency**
It's important to understand the increasing the reporting and sampling frequency can affect
battery life. In the following example, each report will have two samples because the sampling
frequency is twice as fast as the reporting frequency.

To activate faster frequency (5/5 minutes), please create a support ticket at [Aware
Support](https://mysupport.qualcomm.com/aware/s/).
## Battery utilization
Table : Device battery Days of Utilization (DoU) based on reporting and sampling frequency
| Sampling and Reporting Frequency (minutes)
S/R | Days of Utilization |
| :---: | :---: |
| 5/5 | 6-8 |
| 15/15 | 19-24 |
| 60/60 | 74-90 |
