# Add a layer

To add a generic layer, perform the following steps:
      
1. Place the intended layer under the poky/<folder> directory. For more information on working with layers, see [https://docs.yoctoproject.org/dunfell/dev-manual/dev-manual.html](https://docs.yoctoproject.org/dunfell/dev-manual/dev-manual.html).
2. Source the setup-environment script, for example, `source qti-conf/set_bb_env.sh` to get the updated bblayers.conf file.
