# Crash collection plug-in

PCAT can be used for RAM dump collection. The Crash Collection feature of PCAT allows you to download memory dumps from the device. After the device crashes, the device enters the crash state and PCAT attempts to download memory dump images. The crash collection plug-in has the following features displayed on the user interface:

The various fields of crash collection are as follows:

| Fields | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Enable auto crash collection on all devices | Enables auto memory dump collection on all connected Qualcomm devices.
Auto memory dump collection is not allowed on multiple PCAT application instances. |
| Auto reboot the device after collecting memory dumps | Triggers a device reboot after collecting the memory dump of a device. |
| Skip 8K memory dump collection | Skips the 8K memory dump from the device (MDM, MSM, APQ). |
| Skip 9K memory dump collection | Skips the 9K memory dump. |
| Memory dump path | Denotes the path to download memory dump. Default path: %ProgramData%\Qualcomm\PCAT\AddOns\CrashCollection\MemoryDumps.
Dumps are stored under the memory dump path with device serial ID and
timestamp. |
| Memory dump progress | Depicts the status of copying device memory dumps from the device. |
| Save each memory dumps with unique timestamp folder | Saves each memory dumps with unique timestamp folder in memory dump path |
## Download memory dumps
1. From the Product Configuration Assistant Tool
interface, connect the device in the Device Selection menu as
follows.
2. Open PCAT. The following Open Device Selection dialog box
appears.

3. Select a device and click Connect. The status bar displays the
green color against the description and chipset name of the device.

4. In GREEN state, the device is connected to the current PCAT
instance and in MEDIUM GREY state, the device is connected to
another PCAT instance.

5. Select Crash Collection plug-in and other required options.
6. Click BROWSE to choose memory dumps path.
7. Click COLLECT.
Note: When the
memory dump is in progress, the Collect button is
disabled.

Note: PCAT application collects memory dumps only when the device enters crash mode.
