# Universal flash storage Source: [https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/89_UFS.html](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/89_UFS.html) Universal flash storage (UFS) is an open standard set by Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC). It is a high-performance storage interface designed to minimize the power consumption. Its high-speed serial interface and optimized protocol enable significant improvements in throughput and system performance. UFS uses both MIPI M-PHY and UniPro standards to configure the device driver for providing high-speed connectivity and power efficiency. - **[UFS power management](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/ufs_power_management.html)** To monitor the power consumption, UFS has three power modes in accordance to the existing JEDEC standards – Active, Idle, and Sleep. **Parent Topic:** [Storage](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/80-88500-4/topic/88_Storage.html) Last Published: Aug 18, 2023 [Previous Topic Storage](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/80-88500-4/topics/88_Storage.md) [Next Topic UFS hardware](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/80-88500-4/topics/90_UFS_hardware.md)
