# Enable a peripheral interface in the aDSP

Enable a Sensing Hub (SSC) QUP instance in the aDSP using the
`fw_devcfg.dtsi` file.

To enable a top QUP in the aDSP, the TrustZone configuration is
sufficient. Configure the Sensing Hub instance in the aDSP device
configuration file, and set the protocol and mode for the target serial
engine.

1. Open the aDSP device configuration file:

adsp_proc/dt_settings/soc/<chipset>/core/buses/fw_devcfg.dtsi

2. Configure the Sensing Hub instance for the target serial engine.

            ibi_base = /bits/ 32 <SSC_I3C_IBI_1_BASE>;
            protocol = /bits/ 32 <SE_PROTOCOL_I2C>; // Change to SPI or I3C as required
            se_island_config = /bits/ 16 <USLEEP_ISLAND_LLC>;
            tre_list_size = /bits/ 8 <1>;
            ibi_se_index = /bits/ 8 <1>;
            se_mode = /bits/ 8 <GSI>; // Change to FIFO where applicable
            load_fw = /bits/ 8 <1>;
            dfs_mode = /bits/ 8 <1>;
            ibi_hw_enabled = /bits/ 8 <1>;
        };
        Copy to clipboard

    1. Set the `protocol` value to the required protocol.

        Change the protocol to SPI or I^3^C as required.
    2. Set the `se_mode` value to the required mode.

        Change the mode to FIFO where applicable.
3. To change the number of GPIIs for a specific use case or to modify flags:

    1. Review the SSC QUP configuration in:

dt_settings/soc/glymur/core/buses/qup_common/ssc-qupv3.dtsi
            Copy to clipboard
    2. Review the top QUP configuration in:

dt_settings/soc/glymur/core/buses/qup_common/top-qupv3.dtsi
            Copy to clipboard
