# Host requirements The host requirements differ for the Debian layer and the firmware build. Match the architecture and operating system to the path you plan to run. For more information, see [Snapdragon X2 Linux software overview](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/SP80-A0399-4/topic/snapdragon-x2-linux-software-overview.html#snapdragon-x2-linux-software-overview). Other Linux distributions might work but aren’t officially validated. The following table lists the host architecture and operating system for each build layer. | Build layer | Architecture | Operating system | | --- | --- | --- | | Debian | ARM64 (for example, Snapdragon) | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or later, or Debian Trixie 13 or later | | Firmware | x86\_64 | Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or later | ## Install the Snapdragon X2 Linux build packages 1. Install the build dependencies on the Debian host before you clone the image repository. 2. Run the following command on the host that builds the Debian layer. sudo apt -y install \ git crossbuild-essential-arm64 make fakemachine flex bison bc \ libdw-dev libelf-dev libssl-dev libssl-dev:arm64 \ dpkg-dev debhelper-compat kmod python3 rsync coreutils Copy to clipboard Last Published: Sep 29, 2026 [Previous Topic Build overview](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/SP80-A0399-4/topics/snapdragon-x2-linux-software-overview.md) [Next Topic Build the Debian image with prebuilt firmware](https://docs.qualcomm.com/bundle/publicresource/SP80-A0399-4/topics/build-the-debian-image-with-prebuilt-firmware.md)
