# Build overview

Review the supported build paths and choose the workflow that matches your access level.

The Snapdragon^®^ X2 reference SC8480XP platform runs a Debian Trixie image built from Qualcomm sources and prebuilt binaries.

The following two build paths are available, depending on your Qualcomm access levels and your bring-up goals:

- The prebuilt firmware path builds only the Debian operating system layer while firmware ships as binaries.
- The full firmware path builds firmware from source and then the Debian layer, and requires a registered Qualcomm developer account.

You can also download prebuilt firmware and Debian images and flash them directly instead of building. Registered users find the artifactory links to prebuilt flashable images in the release notes, then follow [Flash the software images](https://docs.qualcomm.com/doc/SP80-A0399-4/topic/flash-the-software-images.html#flash-the-software-images).

## User types

Your Qualcomm account access level determines which build path you can use.

| User type | Build path | Qualcomm account requirement |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Unregistered user** | Use prebuilt firmware binaries. | A Qualcomm account is not required. |
| **Registered user** | Access and build the firmware source. | A Qualcomm developer account is required. |
